Our Father's Glorious Church in Christ

What was that purpose of God in creation?  Father wanted a race of men whose members are gifted with Spirit whereby communion will be possible with Himself who is Spirit. That race possessing His own life must co-operate in securing His purpose end, by defeating every possible upraising of the enemy and undoing its evil plan. That was the great plan. How will it be now affected!

The answer is found in the death of the LORD JESUS. It is a mighty death. It is something positive and purposive going far beyond of recovering the lost position. For by it not only our sin and old man dealt with but something infinitely greater is introduced.

Now we must have two passages of the word, Genesis 2 and Ephesians 5 which are so important in this connection. “And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. (Genesis 2:21-23)”. “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish”. (Ephesians 5:25-27). Ephesians 5 is the only passage which explains the passage in Genesis 2 and it is remarkable. Christ loved the Church, this is something most precious. We are taught to think ourselves as sinners needing redemption. We praise the Lord for that as it is our beginning.

But it is not only what the Lord’s view of the end. Here Lord speaks about a Glorious Church without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but holy without blemish.

All to often we are taught to think that the church is merely only saved sinners. It is surely like that. But we made the term almost equal to one another as though it was only that which not the case is. In God’s side the Church is a divine creation in His Son Jesus. The eternal purpose something in the mind of God from eternity is about concerning His Son. And it has subjective that Son should have a body to express His life. View from that stand point, from the stand point of the heart of God , Church is something beyond sin and has never been touched by sin. In Romans (chapter 5) things are viewed from the fallen man, beginning with Christ died for the sinners and ungodly, we lead progressively to the love of Christ. In Ephesians, the stand point is that of God. The heart of the gospel is CHRIST LOVED THE CHURCH AND GAVE HIMSELF UP FOR IT. The love here is the Love of Husband for the wife. Praise God, Christ died for the atonement of our sins. We must remember that today we are in fact, in Ephesians 5 not in Genesis 2. Ephesians was written after the fall, to men who suffered its effect. And in it, we have not only the purpose of the creation but also the scars of the fall.  Although it needs to be no mention of the spot or wrinkle because we are still on the earth and fall is a historic fact, cleansing is needed. Redemption was an interruption, an emergency measure made necessary by a catastrophic break in the straight line the purpose of the God. Redemption is big enough, wonderful enough to occupy a very large place in our vision. But God is saying that we should not make redemption is to be everything although man is created to be redeemed. Fall was indeed a tragic dip down once in that line of purpose. But we are restored by the atonement and our sins are blotted out. When it is accomplished, yet remains a work to be done to bring us in to possession of which Adam never possessed and gives to God that which Heart desires. God has never forsaken the purpose which is represented by that straight line. Adam was never in possession of the life of God which is presented in the tree of life.

But because of the work of Lord Jesus, by faith in his death and resurrection, we have received more than Adam ever possessed. The very purpose of God is in reach the fulfillment by receiving Christ as our life.

In Genesis 3, sin entered in to the world and death through sin. But Adam was put to sleep (Genesis 2:21). The relation to the sin and atonement there is a lamb or bullock slain. Here Adam was not slain, but only to put to sleep to wake again. This prefigured the death and resurrection of Lord Jesus. Then we must know that Eve was not created as a separate entity by a separate creation parallel to that of Adam. Adam slept and Eve was created out of Adam. This is the God’s method of the Glorious Church. God’s second man, Christ, awaken from sleep and His Church is created in Him and of Him, to draw her life from Him and to display His resurrection life. God has a Son who is known to be only begotten Son and God is seeking that the begotten Son should have brethren. From the position of only begotten, Jesus will become the FIRST begotten by including us believers, His Glorious Church (From Glorious Church). May Father graciously open our eyes ...
